How Wisp Companion handles your data

The Wisp Companion app stores selected chat history and memories in an encrypted local database. Full history remains until you delete it. Private journal images and adventure drafts stay in the same local archive. The database key is protected by the operating system. Passphrase-protected backups exclude provider keys.

Requests go to your AI provider with your own key. Provider retention terms apply. Local storage does not prevent selected text from being sent to a remote AI model. A connected CLI would use its own provider account; it does not mean the model runs on your PC.

Searching Warcraft Wiki sends only the words you confirm to that site. Your character, chat and notes are not sent.

Saved character facts and memories have separate permissions: Off, Context only, and May mention. Context-only information may be sent to the provider, but is not permitted in a reply. Game chat and imported content cannot change account, payment or conversation settings.

Your account holds your email and the devices you connect. Chats, memories and characters stay on your PC.

Source links open in your browser; reviewed browser searches send the displayed query to Google. Notes stay local, and only selected excerpts enter a question. The browser demo keeps notes in memory.

Optional AI web search is not enabled yet. When available, you review the query first and only that query goes to OpenAI, whose AI runs the search and may reword it. Character data, chat and memories are not included. Its summary enters another question only when you select it.

AI artwork is coming soon. It will send only the scene you review to your image provider. Journal text, screenshots and friend history are not attached automatically. You review the image before saving it to an entry.

The visible addon strip carries selected game chat, the questions you type and small character state: level, zone, money, talent points, quest count, free bag slots and durability. That state is sent only while capture is on and outside combat. It never includes combat data. All other character, map and completed-fight data comes from saved characters you explicitly load or import. Saved characters can include quests, reputation, raid lockouts, bags, your last bank visit, combat stats and recent runs. The time each was recorded stays visible.

Screen images are decoded in memory and discarded. Wisp Companion does not read your clipboard in the background or send replies for you.

The website demo uses example characters and content. It makes no AI calls and never connects to a game. No third-party analytics are enabled in this build.
